I am currently deployed in Afghanistan and we have Fallen Comrade Ceremonies. They are the most sobering experience. Everyone lines up along the main road and the coffin is escorted in a humvee and covered with a flag, down the road onto the flightline. Salutes are rendered and there is one individual that travels with the body all the way back to the States.

It’s sad, but I appreciate the opportunity to show respect for what the individual fought for.
