Fitovers, entry II

Where was I? Oh yes, fitovers that don’t fit.
SO, I decide the earpieces are fine for my fat head, but the nose piece needs to be angled inward so the glasses don’t fall off my face. I decide to heat the glasses in my toaster oven.
But at what temperature? Well, I figure that fitovers are probably made to hold up in a hot, closed car. I go online and find warnings about leaving children and pets in hot cars and learn that a hot car can get up to 150 degrees on a hot day.
Since I want my glasses to soften so they can be molded a bit, I set the temp to 175 degrees and bake my glasses for a spell.

Okay, enough comments about the toaster oven needing to be cleaned.
I remove the glasses and put them in a clamp to gently bend the nose piece.

EXPERIMENT FAILED. The glasses do not remold at 175 degrees. Upon trying them on after they have cooled, I discover that they are just as loose as they were before.
I’m reluctant to bake them at a higher temp. Perhaps if I had baked them for a longer time . . . but I’m not willing to try this either, because (1) I am cheap and don’t want to buy a new pair of fitovers if I can make these work, and (2) I don’t wish to scrape melted, gloppy plastic out of the oven.
On to Plan B: I find a bowl that is oven safe and just the right diameter to put some pressure on the nose piece. Back into the oven go the glasses.

Voila! (Or voy-la, as Vickie Howell says.) This works.
The glasses cool down, and don’t they look incredibly cool as well?

Yes indeed.
