Scarf Completed

So I finished the gift scarf and dunked it in cool water. When I poured the water out, the colors had run quite a bit. Although I would normally not wash a scarf, I’m glad I soaked this one because it’s going to a friend who lives in a rainy climate. If the colors ran in my tap water, they would likely run in rain water and turn whatever she’s wearing into a lovely but unwanted shade of blue.

Unfortunately, the pattern that I worked so hard to find sort of got lost in the wash as well. It just hasn’t looked the same since I dunked it. However, the wool is softer (and I didn’t think Malabrigo could get softer), so there you go. And at least the pattern was simple to knit.

If I had it to do over, though, I’d just do garter stitch because the Malabrigo is beautiful enough without a pattern.

Our family reunion trip to Minnesota went well. The weather wasn’t too hot or too humid. We rented a condo on the Mississippi and enjoyed the view as well as members of my husband’s family whom I hadn’t met before. Minnesota memories:
