A swift improvisation

Since I have not heard from Yarn Bazaar regarding the swift that lasted a mere nine months with only sporadic use (and I am trying not to grumble—yet—about their reluctance to cover their product), I rigged up a makeshift swift in my kitchen.
I am not the first knitter to do this by any means. But I’m the first to do this in my kitchen.
I lay the skein loosely around a chair back . . .

. . . and over our kitchen light (after wiping it clean and checking that the fixture was securely fastened to the ceiling) . . .

. . . and onto the ball winder.

It worked tolerably well.

The chair back was the weak link. I tried several different chair backs, and the yarn had problems clearing all of them. So I had to wind a rotation or two, then stop and free the yarn, wind a rotation or two, free the yarn . . .
I want my swift back.
I await news from Yarn Bazaar customer service. It’s been a while now, though. At a certain point I will move on, with a mental note to avoid a certain company in the future.
