Cast away!

Like I need any new projects. I must have Knitter’s ADD because I have been doing a great amount of casting on. I’m knitting steadily on all these items—a little here, a little there—so I don’t feel too bad. And they’re all fun.

These are gift socks, two socks on four circular needles from one ball of yarn. And yes, I am counting rows this time rather than measuring. I love knitting with Cherry Tree Hill DK, and it washes up nice and soft. Yarn: Cherry Tree Hill DK; yarn: Gypsy Rose.

I only have one corner completed of the diagonal scarf below. Noro has such beautiful colors, and I felt a sample of this Noro yarn after it was washed, and it was quite soft. I wanted the colors to run diagonally, so I began the scarf at one corner and right now am increasing twice on each right-side row until I reach the width I want.

I can’t knit on this project for long periods because the yarn doesn’t have much give to it and it’s hard on my forearms. Yarn: Noro Silk Garden; color: rainbow.

I have trouble finishing scarves because they become too boring for me. I hope the unfolding colors will keep me going.

I’ve wanted to knit Knitty.com’s Haiku toddler sweater for a long time. There is now a nearby soon-to-be-toddler who might need a sweater soon. This pattern is worked from side to side. You can see the slit where the sleeve will eventually go. The yarn is called I Love This Yarn (from Hobby Lobby); color: Sea Spray Stripe. This thick yarn is easy to work with and has a nice drape.

I also wanted to try MDK’s Heartbreakingly Cute Baby Kimono (from the book Mason-Dixon Knitting) for a new baby, gender unknown as yet.  I’m enlarging the pattern 25%. We’ll see how it turns out. I’m working on the back now. Yarn: Baby Bee Sweet Delight (from Hobby Lobby); color: Teddybear Ombre. This is very soft yarn.
