Eager-for-spring socks

I pulled a skein of Easter-hued Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted out of my stash and cast on a scarf. Then, as I began knitting with it, I decided I loved it so much I wanted to see it year round. So I ripped out the scarf and am knitting house socks with it instead.
Lorna’s Laces Shepherd Worsted; color Apple Hill; needle size 5

I’m going to knit these socks with a cushy heel and a stockinette interior sole. So I’ll knit the top half of the sock and purl the bottom half. With yarn this thick, I don’t really want to walk on the purl side.
(”Walkin’ on the knit side” is a good name for a song.)
I really wasn’t sure I’d like yarn this brightly colored, but now that I’m knitting with it, I’m sort of falling in love with it. I may have to order another couple of skeins and make a scarf with it after all.
Off topic: I was entranced by the elongated shadows across the snow yesterday morning and thought I’d share:
