Two year check-up

Two years ago I was diagnosed with colon cancer and had surgery. It’s annual check-up time now. I had a PET/CT scan three days ago, had my blood drawn today, see my surgeon and my oncologist this week, and have a colonoscopy next week.
Today is my birthday and it is very quiet here. My husband is out of town, and the kids are living on their own these days.
The solitude is leaving me pensive. I am glad to have seen another year and hope to see many more.
I finished my cuff-down socks, again in Mountain Colors. Same colorway, but this dye lot has more blue in it. I can fit my own foot now and am learning to knit socks for feet that do not belong to me.
Here are the completed cuff-down socks in Mountain Colors:

Right now I’m knitting toe-up socks with a reversed heel, so I will be walking on the heel flap. I wanted to try this because the heel flap feels so cushy and inviting that I wanted it under the foot rather than behind the heel.
I’m using Dream in Color worsted yarn for the socks, which knits up prettier than it looks on the hank, thank goodness. I’d ordered the yarn online, and when it arrived at my house, it looked like it should be called Dream in Dark Muddy Gray.
But when the yarn is knitted, the colors come forward. It’s still very muted, but Dusky Aurora is okay for guy socks. The yarn itself is great to work with and quite soft. I’ve ordered some more in a peaceful, light green for a hat for my daughter. Hopefully, that color won’t look as murky.
